Ocean Developpement

MODX Catamarans has unveiled the MODX 70, a 70-foot catamaran that signals a decisive shift towards fully autonomous, zero-emission yachting. Conceived as a 100 per cent electric vessel powered entirely by renewable energy, the project combines advanced engineering with a refined onboard experience, positioning itself as a new benchmark in sustainable maritime design.

At the core of the MODX 70 is an integrated energy ecosystem that eliminates reliance on fossil fuels. The yacht combines solar power generated by 70 square metres of panels with hydrogeneration, electric propulsion, and a proprietary Aeroforce® wing system. These automated wings, significantly more efficient than conventional rigs, adjust dynamically to wind conditions, enabling continuous optimisation of performance while removing the need for traditional winches and ropes. The result is a safer, more intuitive sailing experience, supported by a centralised digital dashboard that manages propulsion, diagnostics, and navigation.

MODX Catamarans has approached innovation not as an added feature, but as the foundation of the yacht’s architecture. The elimination of mechanical complexity creates not only operational efficiency but also frees up space, delivering 20 per cent more usable onboard area. This contributes to over 185 square metres of living space, where interior and exterior environments are seamlessly connected.

Inside, the yacht balances technical ambition with a strong emphasis on comfort and luxury. A 54-square-metre saloon offers panoramic 360-degree views, complemented by a private lounge, dining area for up to 12 guests, and a fully equipped galley. Cabins are designed to maximise natural light and uninterrupted sea views, while materials and finishes can be tailored to individual preferences, reinforcing a bespoke residential atmosphere at sea.

Performance and sustainability are closely aligned. The vessel can operate autonomously for extended periods, with solar and wind energy supporting propulsion and onboard systems. Silent navigation eliminates noise and vibration, enhancing both onboard wellbeing and environmental sensitivity. With an estimated reduction of 126 tonnes of CO₂ annually, the MODX 70 reflects a long-term commitment to responsible yachting.
