Tell us a little about your background in design

I studied Architecture AT USC school of Architecture then after several years realized that I might be frustrasted by the lead time of a building and was more interested in the minutia of design. I transferred to study Environmental Design at Art Center College of Design. They helped with job placement so After graduation I worked freelance for a company doing their office headquarters in a Victorian home and their hotel gift shop in Santa Monica. I cotinued to do freelance work throughout my career. I also taught visual arts consulting for curriculum development at UCLA laboratory elementary school. I have a tile line, and a Vintage fshion armwear collection worn by ‘Cher and Shakira’ among others.

How would you describe your personal design style?

My design style is crafted with ideas and the use of materials in innovative ways using elements informed by classical order.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?

use your own personal filter and trust your instincts

What projects are you currently working on?

a boar remodel, a kitchen addition, an ADU, an refresh to a home done 8 years ago

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

A fairly large budget home design for an exisiting client where complete trust was previously established and is a foundation for me to do my most creative work using my unique filter for her lifestyle.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

My own build had so many challenges in terms of covid shutdown, permiting, coastal commission, revocation of approvals due to flood map zone changes, budget increases…

Which products/services could you not live without when designing? E.g. Lighting companies, furniture companies

I do nto use many items repeatedly. I have recently built my home and used many of Davide GRoppi lighting pieces. I do purchase alot of Italian furnishings in the new category.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

I would like to segway into boutique hotel design as well. I am also a chef and always love to do kitchens.

Your most treasured possession?

My Venetian Trumeau painted and gilded pair of mirrors and my art collection.
