Tell us a little about the company background:
Citadel Aviation exists because its founders believed the VVIP aircraft experience could be fundamentally better. Established by Sheldon G. Adelson and Dr. Miriam Adelson, whose personal passion for aviation drove the creation of a facility purpose-built around a single conviction, that owners of the world’s most exclusive aircraft deserve a partner as exacting as they are, the company has grown into one of the industry’s most respected names in VVIP maintenance, modification, refurbishment, and completions.

Formerly known as Citadel Completions, the company rebranded to Citadel Aviation to reflect the full breadth of what it delivers: nose-to-tail heavy maintenance, structural modifications, avionics upgrades, next-generation connectivity, bespoke interior refurbishment and fabrication, and aircraft completions. Under the leadership of CEO Greg Colgan, a veteran of nearly three decades in high-stakes commercial and VVIP aviation, Citadel has evolved from a world-class completions house into a full-lifecycle partner, capable of supporting an aircraft from acquisition through decades of distinguished service.

The company operates from two strategic hubs. Its center of excellence in Lake Charles, Louisiana, provides the expansive hangar infrastructure required for narrow- and wide-body VVIP aircraft, while a growing its capabilities in large cabin and business jet services, places Citadel within immediate reach of one of the nation’s most active private aviation corridors. What distinguishes Citadel in a fragmented MRO landscape is its fully integrated model, cabinetry, upholstery, sheet metal, structural repair, and avionics all under one roof, giving clients a single, accountable partner rather than a patchwork of subcontractors. A fourth consecutive FAA Employer Diamond Award underscores the caliber of the team behind that promise.

How does your company approach each project from concept to completion?:
Every Citadel project starts with a conversation, not a scope of work. Before a single specification is written, our team engages directly with the aircraft owner and their representatives to understand the vision behind the project, how the aircraft is used, who it carries, and what “finished” truly means to that individual. In the VVIP space, completion is not defined by an industry checklist; it is defined by the owner’s expectations, and those expectations are the standard we build to.

From there, Citadel’s integrated in-house capabilities become a decisive advantage. Interior Specialists, upholsterers, sheet metal specialists, avionics technicians, and structural engineers work shoulder to shoulder as a unified team, not as a chain of subcontracted trades handing off between silos. This model eliminates the coordination gaps and quality inconsistencies that plague projects split across disparate vendors, and it gives every client a single point of accountability from first consultation to final delivery.

Throughout execution, we prize transparency above diplomacy. If a timeline shifts or a design decision carries a trade-off our client should understand, we say so, clearly and early. That candor is central to what CEO Greg Colgan calls operational credibility: the trust that is earned not by telling clients what they want to hear, but by consistently delivering what they were promised. Rigorous quality oversight, disciplined scheduling, and institutional depth in VVIP work, where a cabin redesign may involve thousands of bespoke components and a structural modification demands zero tolerance for error, ensure that every aircraft is returned not merely serviced, but elevated.

Where inspires your company in this sector?:
The aircraft themselves. There is no equivalent in design or engineering to walking through a widebody head-of-state cabin mid-transformation, watching raw materials become hand-finished monuments, bulkheads take shape around bespoke lighting schemes, and an interior evolve from concept rendering into a space that will carry world leaders, families, and legacies across oceans. That daily proximity to extraordinary craft is what draws our people to this work and keeps them here.

We are equally inspired by the trust our clients place in us. Owners of VVIP aircraft are entrusting us with assets that are deeply personal, not just financially, but emotionally. They measure quality in absolutes, not approximations. Meeting that standard, project after project, is a challenge that sharpens every member of our team.

More broadly, we are inspired by where this sector is headed. Cabin technologies are advancing rapidly, connectivity expectations are more sophisticated, sustainable material innovation is accelerating, and owners are imagining interiors that would have been inconceivable a decade ago. For a company of craftspeople and engineers, the opportunity to solve problems that have no template, to create something truly one-of-one, is not just a business proposition. It is the reason Citadel exists

How important are The International Yacht & Aviation Awards?:
The International Yacht & Aviation Award affirms our commitment to excellence and innovation in interior design, motivating us to continue pushing the boundaries of our craft.

What are your company’s aims and goals for the next twelve months?:
Citadel Aviation’s trajectory over the next year is defined by three priorities: expanded capacity, deeper capability, and continued investment in the people who make both possible.

First, capacity. Citadel’s is focused on expansion to support large cabin and business jet maintenance, refurbishment, and modification, giving aircraft owners a second world-class option and meaningfully reducing downtime through geographic convenience. In parallel, our Lake Charles center of excellence for narrow and wide-bodied commercial sized private VVIP aircraft is adding specialized talent, broadening tooling and certifications, and building the operational redundancy that allows clients to benefit from flexibility without any compromise in quality.

Second, capability. We are actively developing advanced avionics integration, partnered with next-generation connectivity solutions, and expanded bespoke interior fabrication to ensure our service offering evolves in lockstep with the expectations of a clientele that is always looking ahead. As cabin technologies advance and the global VVIP fleet continues to grow in both size and sophistication, Citadel intends to lead, not follow, that evolution.

Third, and most critically, our people. Citadel’s culture of accountability, curiosity, and genuine love of the craft is the engine behind everything we deliver. We will continue to invest in training, professional development, and the kind of workplace that has earned four consecutive FAA Employer Diamond Awards. Our overarching aim is clear: to be the most credible, most capable, and most committed partner in the art of caring for extraordinary aircraft, not the largest, but the one discerning owners trust without reservation
