Tell us a little about your background in design:
I have always been drawn to creative subjects, studying art and design throughout my education before specialising in 3D design. This naturally led me to pursue a BA in Spatial and Interior Design at university, where I developed a strong foundation in both conceptual thinking and practical application. I began my career in residential interior design in 2010, working across a range of design studios where I was able to build a diverse portfolio and refine my approach. For the past nine years, I have been part of Dapa Atelier, where I have continued to grow as a designer and contribute to a variety of high-end, thoughtfully considered projects.

How would you describe your personal design style?:
My personal design style is eclectic, contemporary, and colourful, with a strong emphasis on sustainability. I enjoy layering textures, tones, and materials to create spaces that feel both dynamic and harmonious, while ensuring that the choices I make are mindful of their environmental impact.

Where does your design inspiration come from?:
I naturally gravitate towards beautiful and sustainable fabrics and products for my design schemes, whether that be natural fibres or solid woods. A key part of my process is researching the history and culture of the local area; this context helps shape the narrative and direction of each project. I also find inspiration through trade shows and presentations from suppliers, which are invaluable for discovering new fabrics, finishes, and innovations that can influence future designs.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?:
Design currently feels like it is balancing two complementary directions. On one hand, there is a strong movement towards neutrals, earthy tones, and natural materials that create calm, grounded environments. On the other, there is an equally exciting embrace of bold colour, pattern, and texture. Across both, there is a clear and growing appreciation for craftsmanship, authenticity, and how things are made. Overall, there is a noticeable shift towards a “back to basics” philosophy – prioritising quality, longevity, and thoughtful detailing over fast trends.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future. :
• Designing for connection – both between people and with nature
• Wellness-focused spaces, including principles such as biophilic design
• Incorporating nostalgia and emotional resonance through meaningful, timeless pieces
• Prioritising longevity and timelessness over short-lived trends
• Celebrating craftsmanship, material integrity, and sustainable sourcing

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?:
Maximise your space, space planning is so important and ensuring you have plenty of movement around your furniture, so that you don’t feel claustrophobic. my background in spatial design has instilled spatial awareness in me, so that it is always at the forefront when I design, and I would advise others to take it in to consideration to not only maximise their space, but to enhance their design and make it feel more calming and comfortable.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?:
The International Design & Architecture Awards are an important platform for celebrating excellence and innovation within the global design industry. They recognise a wide range of projects that demonstrate thoughtful, high-quality design and set benchmarks for cutting-edge luxury living across the world.

What projects are you currently working on?:
I am currently working on a large countryside family home, focusing on creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that reflects both the setting and the lifestyle of the clients.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?:
I would say this scheme, there are so many bespoke elements – which is a designers dream, to be able to design so many parts from scratch and have that control over the outcome. It’s been amazing to see it all come together from my initial concept, to the final execution. It’s so satisfying when the extensive bespoke pieces work so beautifully together.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?:
One of the more challenging projects involved several complex design adjustments, including transforming a fireplace by removing its heating element and incorporating pendant lighting within it. There was also a matter with a bespoke headboard that was not executed by the supplier as we had originally envisioned. These challenges required problem-solving, adaptability, and close collaboration to ensure the final result still aligned with the overall design intent.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing? E.g. Lighting companies, furniture companies:
I rely heavily on the Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, as an essential tool for visualising and presenting design concepts. In terms of suppliers, brands like Casamance are invaluable for their high-quality fabric collections.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?:
Over the next year, I aim to further integrate sustainability into my work by sourcing more eco-friendly products and collaborating with suppliers who prioritise ethical and responsible production methods.

Your most treasured possession?:
A card my son recently made for me for Mother’s Day. It features us standing under a rainbow, surrounded by hearts – and me with “spider hair.” It’s incredibly special and something I will always treasure.

Your favourite holiday destination?:
I absolutely love Dubrovnik, Croatia. As someone with a strong interest in history, I am drawn to its rich heritage and the beauty of its old town.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?:
Hotel: Livingstone Manor in Exmouth. It’s owned by my uncle and it holds personal significance as it’s where I grew up. The manor house has all been restored, so that familiarity of how it was when I grew up nearby makes it a truly special place to visit
Restaurant: Red Hot Mama’s in Warwick! The pistachio, chicken, and mascarpone pizza is a standout favourite.
Bar: Rhubarb in Leamington Spa, it’s now closed but it was my favourite place to go – It had a beautiful Victorian bar in the centre, perfect for an evening drink with friends.

Your favourite book, film & song?:
Book: “You do you” by Sarah Knight, it’s an empowering read about focusing on your own goals while maintaining respect for others.
Film: I absolutely love the Home Alone films, I can watch them again and again – pure nostalgia.
Song: I have a whole album – ‘Bad’ by Michael Jackson, just a masterpiece.

Your favourite food and drink?:
Food: Iranian food is my favourite, rich in flavour and variety!
Drink: Full fat coca-cola, simple but unbeatable.

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?:
Enjoying a relaxed meal out, spending quality time with family or friends, and taking the opportunity to unwind and recharge.

If you weren’t in this sector, what would your alternative profession be?:
I would likely be an archaeologist. I’ve always been fascinated by history and the idea of uncovering artefacts from ancient times, discovering stories hidden beneath the surface.

Anything else interesting?:
My passion for design is closely tied to my curiosity about history, culture, and how people live. This perspective continually shapes my approach, allowing me to create spaces that feel meaningful, personal, and enduring.
