Tell us a little about your background in design

With an architectural background and over 19 years of experience, I have led the design and delivery of some of the region’s most prestigious hospitality and residential projects.

How would you describe your personal design style?

Designing spaces where storytelling and functionality come together, creating environments that are not only visually engaging but also intuitive, memorable, and enriching for those who use them.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

My inspiration comes from the culture, surrounding nature, and unique identity of each place. I believe the best designs are those that respond to their context, creating spaces that feel authentic, meaningful, and connected to the people who use them.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

I believe design is moving towards a balance of sophistication and simplicity. The focus is increasingly on timeless, understated spaces where thoughtful details, quality materials, and purposeful design create environments that feel elegant and welcoming.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future

-The story / feel what the client envisions
-Lighting
-Color tones and textures
-Circulation
– Overall feeling when occupying the space

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?

To me, design is defined by three essential qualities: function, comfort, and elegance. Keeping these at the heart of every project is the key to creating successful and enduring spaces.

How important are The International Hotel & Property Awards?

It’s one of the key events that recognises and celebrates dedication, hard work, and passion.

What projects are you currently working on?

My current projects include both hospitality and residential developments, with a mix of new-build and renovation projects.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

By far, Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab has been the most memorable project. It was an incredibly challenging yet equally rewarding experience. Designing and delivering such an iconic development while construction was progressing at full speed was no easy task. The opportunity to collaborate with so many stakeholders throughout the process also made it a truly unique and valuable experience.

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?

Working on the design while construction was progressing at full speed required resilience, creativity, and sound judgement. It challenged us to adapt quickly while maintaining the highest standards of quality and delivering a result that met the project’s ambitions.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing?

Interior design is about the overall experience, with every FF&E element and building material playing an integral role in shaping how a space looks, feels, and functions.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?

To continue building on the legacy HBA has established over the years, while evolving alongside the local and international design and construction community.

Your most treasured possession?

A calligraphy artwork I created on wood with my children’s names.

Your favourite holiday destination?

Italy West Coast, where the mountain meets the sea.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?

Hotel: Aman Koyoto Japan
Restaurant: any restaurant that offers a taste with love
Bar: Irish bars during football games

Your favourite book, film & song?

Film: The Godfather
Song: That Sunday by Nat King Cole

Your favourite food and drink?

Food: Seafood
Drink: Coffee

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?

If you weren’t in this sector, what would your alternative profession be?

I would be a Tourist Guide.
