Tell us a little about your background in design:
I graduated from Northumbria University with a degree in Interior Design, where my studies focused heavily on interior architectural design. During my time at university, I developed a strong understanding of spatial planning, technical design, material specification, and creating spaces that successfully balance functionality with aesthetics. The course encouraged creative thinking alongside practical problem-solving, giving me the skills to take projects from initial concept through to detailed design proposals.
I began my professional design career within high-end luxury bespoke kitchens and cabinetry, where I progressed from Junior Designer to Director. Over the course of my career there, I gained extensive experience designing bespoke kitchens and other rooms of the home, managing client relationships, overseeing projects, and leading design teams. This progression gave me invaluable insight into every stage of the design process, from developing creative concepts and technical detailing to delivering exceptional customer experiences and high-quality finished projects.
Following a relocation to the North West, I joined a property developer within its design department. This role broadened my experience beyond bespoke cabinetry and gave me the opportunity to work within luxury residential developments, strengthening my understanding of the wider design and construction process.
That role eventually led me to Hunter & Belle as it stands today, where my business partner and I purchased the company from its founder. As the sole owners and directors, we have continued to grow the business while combining our design expertise in both Architecture and Interior Design, with leadership, business development, project management, and strategic decision-making. Owning and leading the company has strengthened my commercial awareness and reinforced the importance of collaboration, adaptability, and creating thoughtful design solutions that meet both client aspirations and business objectives.
Throughout my career, I have remained passionate about creating well-considered, user-focused spaces that stand the test of time. Whether designing bespoke interiors, shaping residential developments, or leading a growing design business, I believe successful design comes from listening, collaborating, and balancing creativity with practical execution. This combination of technical expertise, commercial understanding, and a genuine passion for design continues to shape my approach to every project.
