Tell us a little about your background in design (education, experience, etc):
I have always wanted to design , weather it was fashion or in interiors its always been my passion , I started in theatre, moved on to set design and eventually started working on interiors . I started with yacht design and then into residential , commercial its now been 30 years of design and it has taken me all over the world.

How would you describe your personal design style?
My personal style is eclectic. I find inspiration in fashion and travel. I believe it is important to surround oneself with things that one loves. I think it’s important to be bold in your choices and give yourself rooms that speak to you and calm you and create memories.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
Travel and fashion are probably my biggest inspirations. You can find everything that you want to see in nature as well. All the textures all the colours are there. You can draw from everything around you. It’s important to Travel. It’s important to open your mind.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
I think people want to feel peace in their surroundings, so maybe people are more likely to create a spa-like home. I think wellness has become very important.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future.
I think people need to consider sustainability and climate change locally source materials. I think while being in mental health are also another thing that people need to really focus on natural light plants organic textures I mean, future designs should really work on creating things that reduce stress in peoples homes and people also want work place adaptation flexible living accounting for hybrid work multigenerational households, and shifting lifestyles are also going to be very important in the future collaborating with other designers clients working very carefully together I think that’s gonna be always important concentrating on the vision of the client seamless technology is also something else that it’s really important lighting, audio security, climate control AI driven personalization I think these are all coming. If not already here these considerations create beautiful interiors that they’re also resilient inclusive and they’re meaningful in the future.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?
I would say push your limit don’t be afraid to integrate something that you really love be bold be colourful if that’s what appeals to you take risks. I think it’s nice to have it all white home if that’s what you’d love, but you should find some spot where you push yourself a little bit where it becomes someplace magical.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
The international DESIGN and Architect awards are basically a benchmark for excellence. Entering keeps me honest am I really innovating or just following trends? A win from the International jury tells me my design resonates beyond my own circle, which is massive for confidence and close the recognition open stores with clients who specifically seek award-winning designers. It’s not about the trophy itself. It’s about the growth the network than knowing my work stands out on a world stage. That’s what matters to me.

What projects are you currently working on?
Currently, I am working on a project in the Desert Palm Desert for a client. That’s a bit of a maximalist. I’m fully enjoying it. Lots of colours and textures and it’s really amazing.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?
I think one of my favourite projects to work on was a project in China. It was one of my most challenging, just culturally language, barrier weather food all of it but at the end of the day, it was so exciting and I was so out of my element and just seeing the finish product I think it was more just what an experience

What was your most challenging project to work on and why?
My most challenging project was my project in China just because it’s there’s a cultural difference. There’s a language barrier. It’s hard to develop trust I think the expression lost in translation really can happen and it’s harder to source things. It’s hard harder to understand culturally the expectation from you you can’t have a simple conversation when you’re going through a translator becomes different.

Which products/services could you not live without when designing? E.g. Lighting companies, furniture companies
I probably couldn’t live with a few companies. There’s many in Los Angeles that I love there’s a store called mass Beverly Hills. There’s antique stores vintage stores that I just could not live without in Palm Desert not because unnecessarily you have to buy from there, but because it just gives so much inspiration

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
I think in the next 12 months I really want more global projects because travelling is so important to me and being on a world stage is more important to me. It’s kind of my goal
