How would you describe your personal design style?:
Contemporary with warmth and personality. I love clean architectural lines, layered textures and sculptural furniture, balanced with beautiful artwork and carefully chosen statement pieces. There are often subtle Art Deco influences woven throughout my designs, adding a touch of luxury without overpowering the space.

Where does your design inspiration come from?:
Inspiration comes from everywhere. I love visiting museums, galleries and historic buildings, but I also find ideas through travel, fashion, nature and architecture. I’m constantly observing how materials, light, colour and texture interact, and often it’s the smallest details that spark a new concept. I believe the best designs are created by drawing inspiration from a wide range of influences and interpreting them in a fresh, contemporary way.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?:
I think we’re moving away from interiors that follow trends and towards spaces with greater longevity, authenticity and personality. Clients are becoming more considered in their choices, investing in quality materials, craftsmanship and timeless design rather than chasing what’s fashionable. There’s also a growing appreciation for natural textures, sustainable thinking and homes that genuinely reflect the people who live in them. Ultimately, I believe the future of design is about creating spaces that are both beautiful and deeply personal.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future. :
1.Longevity over trends , Creating timeless interiors that will continue to feel relevant for years to come.
2.Sustainability, Making conscious material choices, reducing waste and investing in products that are built to last.
3.Wellbeing, Designing spaces that enhance how people live, supporting comfort, connection and everyday routines.
4.Craftsmanship, Celebrating quality, skilled makers and beautifully detailed pieces that add character and authenticity.
5.Personality, Moving away from one size fits all interiors and creating homes that genuinely reflect the people who live in them.

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?:
Design for the people, not the trends. The most successful interiors are those that reflect the personalities, lifestyles and aspirations of the people who live in them. Listen carefully to your clients, challenge the obvious where appropriate, and don’t be afraid to create something original. A well designed space should feel authentic, timeless and uniquely theirs, rather than simply following what’s fashionable.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?:
Over the next 12 months, my focus is on continuing to grow Raine Design Interiors while remaining true to the values the business was built on. I’d like to take on a select number of exciting residential and commercial projects, continue building a talented team around me, and further establish the studio as a recognised name in luxury interior design. Most importantly, I want to keep creating thoughtful, original spaces that exceed my clients’ expectations.

Your most treasured possession?:
Without question, it’s a ring that was made from a mould originally designed by my late grandad, who was a jeweller. As a child, I loved watching his creativity and craftsmanship, and I think that’s where my appreciation for design first began. Wearing something he created is a wonderful reminder of him and the lasting impact he had on my own creative journey.

Your favourite holiday destination?:
The Maldives is my favourite place to escape. It’s the perfect opportunity to slow down, switch off and spend quality time with my family. I love the sense of calm, the natural beauty and the simplicity of life there. It’s somewhere I always return from feeling refreshed, inspired and ready to be creative again.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar? :
Hotel: The Waldorf Astoria Maldives is without doubt my favourite hotel. Beyond the beautiful setting and exceptional design, it’s the people who make it so special. We’ve been fortunate enough to visit several times, and the team now feel more like friends than staff. Their genuine warmth, attention to detail and consistently outstanding service create an experience that keeps us coming back time and time again.
Restaurant: One of my favourite restaurants is Bonnie in Paris. I love how it combines exceptional food with beautifully considered contemporary interiors. The layered materials, warm lighting and stunning views create an atmosphere that’s both sophisticated and inspiring, it’s the kind of place that reminds me how powerful great design can be in shaping an experience.
Bar: The Connaught Bar in London is one of my favourites. Its timeless interiors, impeccable craftsmanship and understated elegance perfectly demonstrate how exceptional design can shape an experience. It’s a space that feels both luxurious and welcoming, and one I always enjoy returning to.

Your favourite book, film & song? :
Book: I’m not a big reader, if I’m honest. When I have spare time, I’d much rather spend it travelling, exploring new places or being with my family. I tend to be inspired by experiences more than books.
Film: The Great Gatsby is definitely one of my favourites. I love the cinematography, the music and the incredible costumes and sets. Every scene feels so immersive, and it’s one of those films I can watch again and again.
Song: Choosing one song is almost impossible because my taste in music is so varied. At the moment, I’m really enjoying Sombr’s music, but my playlists range from old-school R&B to the latest chart releases. It all depends on my mood.

Your favourite food and drink? :
Food: Indian
Drink: Aperol Spritz

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon? :
If I have a free afternoon, you’ll usually find me exploring an art gallery or wandering around a city taking in the architecture. I recently returned from Barcelona, and seeing Gaudí’s work in person, particularly Casa Batlló, was a real highlight of the trip. I find it fascinating to experience spaces that continue to inspire people generations after they were created.

If you weren’t in this sector, what would your alternative profession be? :
I’d probably be an event planner, as I love creating memorable experiences and paying attention to every detail. If not that, I’d like to think I’d have pursued life as a contemporary artist, exploring creativity in a completely different.
