How would you describe your personal design style?
My personal style blends modern and eclectic influences, with a relaxed sense of ease. I enjoy layering design periods and styles, incorporating distinctive materials and textures, and weaving in personal art collections to create spaces that feel both unique and inviting.

Where does your design inspiration come from?

Much of my inspiration stems from the spirit of a place—the genius loci. Exploring its location, culture, and history provides a powerful foundation for design and helps shape the narrative. Through research and reflection, the story of a place gradually reveals itself, guiding the creative process. The history and character of each setting deeply influence my work, while art, nature, and history continually serve as sources of inspiration across projects.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?

I believe people are increasingly seeking spaces that feel meaningful and intimate. Design is moving toward creating environments that foster connection and emotion whether through the thoughtful use of scale, the power of bold colour, or other elements that heighten a sense of closeness and experience.

What was your favourite project to work on and why?

One of my favorite projects has been The Ritz-Carlton, Portland. It beautifully weaves together two of my favourite landscapes mountains and forests into a compelling narrative that feels like a love letter to the city itself. What made the experience so rewarding was the incredible collaboration: our talented team, alongside the architects, contractors, and the brand, all came together with a shared vision. That collective creativity and dedication truly made the project a success.

Your favourite holiday destination?

I’m equally drawn to the awe-inspiring beauty of nature mountains, coastlines, and national parks as I am to the charm of quaint, walkable cities around the world, particularly in Europe. Each offers inspiration and a sense of self-awareness in different ways. A recent trip to the Pacific Northwest and the southern islands of Alaska was especially meaningful, as it allowed me to recharge in both nature and community.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?

Hotel: Pamushana Lodge – it’s a beautiful safari reserve perched high over the Mailangwe Dam in Zimbabwe. The combination of location and the unique design of the villas and interiors make it my most memorable hospitality experience.
Restaurant: Portland has a couple of restaurants by the same group that I love: Mediterranean Exploration Company and Dolly Olive. Both restaurants create sharable, elevated Mediterranean small plates that bring a group of friends together for a wonderful meal.
Bar: The Campbell, in New York City, is a somewhat hidden bar in Grand Central Station. Its historic interior features original millwork, soaring 25-foot hand painted ceilings and a century-old leaded glass window that frames the back bar.
