Tell us a little about the company background :
STURGE & TOTH was founded as a multidisciplinary design studio focused on exclusive projects across sea, land, and air. With studios operating between London, Antibes, and Vienna, the company combines expertise in superyacht exterior design, bespoke interiors, private aviation, and luxury residential environments. Our background is rooted in some of the industry’s most established design houses, allowing us to bring both technical precision and creative flexibility to highly tailored projects.

How does your company approach each project from concept to completion?:
Every project begins with understanding the client’s lifestyle, operational requirements, and long-term vision. From there, we develop a holistic design narrative that integrates aesthetics, functionality, technical feasibility, and craftsmanship. Our process is collaborative and detail-driven, covering concept development, spatial planning, exterior and interior design, material research, technical coordination, supplier collaboration, and final delivery oversight. We aim to maintain continuity between creative intent and execution throughout the entire lifecycle of a project.

Where inspires your company in this sector?:
Our inspiration comes from architecture, automotive design, nature, traditional craftsmanship, modern art, and emerging technologies. We are particularly inspired by projects that challenge convention while maintaining timeless value. Across yacht and aviation design, we are constantly motivated by the opportunity to create environments that feel highly personal, immersive, and enduring rather than trend-driven.

In what direction do you feel that your projects are moving towards in a general sense?:
Our projects are increasingly moving toward highly individualized experiences that combine understated luxury with technical sophistication. Clients are seeking spaces that are flexible, functional, emotionally engaging, and deeply reflective of their identity. We also see a strong movement toward cleaner architectural forms, integrated technologies, sustainable thinking, and multifunctional living environments across both marine and aviation sectors.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching projects in the future. :
1- Authenticity and individuality
2- Functional luxury!
3- Sustainability and responsible material selection
4- Technological integration without visual excess
5- Timeless design longevity over short-term trends

If your company could offer one piece of advice when it comes to projects, what would it be?:
A successful project is built on clarity of vision from the very beginning. When clients, designers, engineers, and builders share aligned objectives early in the process, the final result becomes far more cohesive and meaningful.

How important are The International Yacht & Aviation Awards?:
The International Yacht & Aviation Awards have been extremely important to the growth and visibility of STURGE & TOTH. Beyond the prestige of the awards themselves, the recognition from such a respected international platform has validated our approach to design within a highly competitive industry. Being shortlisted alongside some of the most established names in yacht and aviation design has reinforced confidence in our work from both existing and prospective clients.

The awards have also significantly increased international exposure for the studio. The visibility generated through the awards, associated publications, and industry media has introduced our work to a much broader audience across Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. This recognition has directly contributed to new conversations, collaborations, and opportunities that may not otherwise have developed as quickly.

For a relatively young and independent studio, the awards have helped accelerate our positioning within the market. They have supported the transition from an emerging design practice into a recognized international brand, while also motivating the team internally by recognizing the level of detail, collaboration, and commitment invested into every project.

What projects are you currently working on?:
We are currently involved in a range of new-build superyacht projects, bespoke refits, private residential commissions, and aviation interiors. Alongside ongoing yacht collaborations, we continue developing concepts within the explorer and support vessel sectors, as well as expanding our work in multifunctional tender design and luxury transport experiences.

A significant part of our current workload includes collaborations with shipyards in both Turkey and Holland, where we are involved in a number of yard series yacht projects ranging from exterior styling and interior development through to full design consultancy. These projects allow us to work closely with builders to develop platforms that combine strong commercial viability with highly refined design language and owner customization.

Recent collaborations have included projects with Numarine, Amels, Lurssen, and Falcon Tenders, alongside several confidential projects currently under development across the Mediterranean and Northern Europe.

What was one of your company’s key projects to work on and why?:
One key project for the studio was the transformation of MY 1K, a 33m Mangusta refit project. It represented an opportunity to completely redefine the onboard experience through a holistic redesign of both layout and atmosphere. The project demonstrated our ability to merge architectural storytelling, bespoke detailing, lighting innovation, and functionality into a highly personalized environment. winner of the awards refit category 2022.

What was your company’s most challenging project to work on and why?:
One of the most challenging aspects of our work is balancing ambitious creative goals with the technical constraints of yacht and aviation platforms. Refit projects in particular can be highly demanding because they require integrating new design languages into existing structural frameworks while maintaining precision, timing, and operational performance. Projects involving extensive customization within tight engineering tolerances are always technically intensive but also highly rewarding.

Which products/services could you not live without when completing projects?:
We rely heavily on strong collaborations with specialist craftsmen, lighting designers, stone suppliers, furniture manufacturers, metal fabricators, and technical engineering teams. Bespoke lighting and custom furniture are particularly essential because they allow us to tailor spaces to each individual project rather than relying on standardized solutions. Equally important are trusted shipyards, artisans, and material suppliers capable of delivering exceptional quality and precision.

What are your company’s aims and goals for the next twelve months?:
Our focus is on expanding our international portfolio across yacht, aviation, and high-end residential sectors while continuing to strengthen our reputation for functional luxury and bespoke design. We are also aiming to deepen strategic collaborations with shipyards and industry partners, further develop innovative design concepts, and continue growing the studio with carefully selected talent and projects that align with our long-term vision.
