Rooted in the age-old heritage of Chengdu, RESEARCH COMMUNE DESIGN has created Peak Essence as a refined expression of avant-garde design and minimalist aesthetics, bringing together spatial harmony, cultural resonance and a sense of tranquillity. The project reflects the studio’s commitment to crafting environments that balance contemporary design language with enduring local character.

At the entrance, RESEARCH COMMUNE DESIGN introduces a curved dome that draws soft natural light into the space, creating a welcoming and contemplative atmosphere. Textured stone surfaces contribute depth and elegance, establishing a luxurious lobby that embodies ritual beauty and spiritual comfort. Through a restrained low-luxury approach, the space conveys sophistication while maintaining a calm and understated presence.

On the basement level, the design team employs vertical grilles to generate rhythm and structure throughout the interior. An open atrium enhances the perception of scale and grandeur, while layered corridors create fluid connections between different functional areas. Bookshelves integrated within these circulation spaces introduce cultural richness and reinforce the project’s intellectual character. Warm lighting softens the architectural composition, creating a peaceful ambience that balances structural strength with moments of quiet reflection.

The mezzanine lounge continues this narrative through capsule-style independent spaces positioned above the corridors. These intimate settings offer opportunities for privacy and self-reflection while drawing upon the essence of local culture. Their elevated perspective strengthens the relationship between the various layers of the interior and contributes to the project’s multidimensional spatial experience.
Throughout Peak Essence, RESEARCH COMMUNE DESIGN combines a scholarly atmosphere, gentle illumination and views of outdoor greenery to shape a rich three-dimensional narrative. By merging serene human-centred qualities with minimalist structural beauty, the practice has created a destination that offers peace and contemplation amid the energy and prosperity of the urban environment.
