The interior design firm River Brook Design & Construction presents a reimagined Homewood estate that thoughtfully blends historic charm with modern design, creating a refined residence tailored for family living, privacy, and panoramic views. Situated within the historic Hollywood neighbourhood of Homewood, the project began with the rare acquisition of a private one-acre site distinguished by mature landscaping and sweeping city vistas. Originally constructed in 1998, the home has been transformed through a comprehensive renovation and expansion into a 6,000-square-foot residence aligned with the owners’ lifestyle and aspirations.

Guided by a “Modern Romanticism” philosophy, the design balances contemporary architectural clarity with warmth and character. Clean lines form a cohesive framework that allows antique furnishings and curated pieces to coexist harmoniously with modern materials and detailing, resulting in a layered and timeless aesthetic.
A defining feature of the project is its strong connection to the surrounding landscape. Expansive openings and carefully oriented living spaces extend the interior outward, integrating indoor and outdoor environments. Additions including an enlarged kitchen, outdoor living areas, and a detached garage with a golf simulator enhance both daily functionality and opportunities for entertaining.
Internally, the layout has been reconfigured to achieve a balance between openness and intimacy, ensuring a natural flow between spaces while preserving distinct zones for gathering and retreat. Material selections, ranging from white oak and marble to unlacquered brass, introduce depth and contrast, complemented by bold off-black accents and curated moments of colour.
Ultimately, the project reflects a disciplined and cohesive vision, delivering a home that honours its context while offering a sophisticated, enduring living experience.
