Sherwood Design conceived the Jacques kitchen as a refined and highly tailored space that balances sculptural materiality with warmth, functionality and timeless liveability. Positioned at the centre of the home, the kitchen was designed to serve as both a practical working environment and a sophisticated focal point within the broader living spaces.

Guided by a restrained European sensibility, the design prioritises proportion, material contrast and compositional balance. Richly expressive Viola stone forms the defining feature of the kitchen, introducing depth, movement and visual interest through its dramatic veining and tonal variation. Carefully integrated throughout the space, the stone creates a strong sense of continuity and identity while maintaining a refined and cohesive overall composition.

Dark stained oak cabinetry provides warmth and architectural presence, complementing the sculptural quality of the stone. Through the considered balance of stronger materials and softer layered elements, Sherwood Design created a kitchen that feels inviting, sophisticated and deeply connected to everyday family life. Brushed metal detailing, tonal layering and carefully selected lighting contribute further warmth and atmosphere while enhancing the clean architectural lines of the joinery.

Bespoke craftsmanship played a significant role throughout the project. Custom kitchen cabinetry, handcrafted by Sherwood Furniture, was designed with a strong focus on proportion, functionality and detailing. Integrated storage solutions maintain clean sightlines and support the calm visual language of the space.

Specialist stone masonry was equally important, with careful slab selection, vein alignment and material transitions enhancing the sculptural beauty of the Viola stone. The result is a timeless kitchen that feels cohesive within the wider residence while maintaining a distinctive and confident architectural presence.
