Sherwood Design transformed the Jacques residence into a refined and highly tailored family home that balances architectural structure with warmth, softness and everyday liveability. Guided by a restrained European sensibility, the project prioritised proportion, materiality and compositional balance, creating interiors that feel timeless, elevated and deeply personal.

A strong sense of cohesion was central to the design approach. Rather than treating rooms as individual spaces, Sherwood Design created a connected interior environment where materiality, tone and detailing flow seamlessly throughout the home. Dark stained oak cabinetry, expressive Viola stone and carefully layered finishes establish depth and architectural presence, while sculptural furniture, curved upholstery and soft textiles introduce warmth and softness.

The richly veined Viola stone became a defining feature of the project, integrated throughout the kitchen and adjoining living spaces to create continuity, movement and visual richness. Paired with bespoke joinery and a restrained material palette, the stone contributes to the sophisticated yet understated character of the residence.

Natural light was carefully considered throughout the design, enhancing the warmth and texture of the layered finishes. Curated artworks, sculptural lighting by Visual Comfort and thoughtful styling add personality while maintaining the calm and highly resolved atmosphere that defines the home.

Exceptional craftsmanship was fundamental to the project’s success. Many of the bespoke elements were handcrafted by Sherwood Furniture, including custom cabinetry, the fireplace wall with its hand-carved solid timber surround and a handcrafted sunburst wall feature. Together with specialist stone masonry and meticulous detailing, these elements reinforce the residence’s timeless quality.

The result is a sophisticated contemporary home that feels cohesive, refined and perfectly suited to modern family living.
