Sherwood Design delivered the Jacques project as a highly resolved contemporary residence, distinguished by its European influence, sculptural restraint and layered materiality. Rather than treating each room as a separate design exercise, the studio approached the home as a cohesive composition, creating a seamless flow of materiality, proportion and atmosphere throughout the interconnected living spaces.

A defining feature of the project is the custom fireplace wall, introduced to establish architectural presence and create a strong focal point within the living area. The hand-carved solid timber fireplace surround was carefully designed to bring softness, elegance and timeless character, reflecting the refined detailing that underpins the entire residence.

Throughout the home, Sherwood Design balanced stronger architectural elements with softer forms to create interiors that feel sophisticated yet welcoming. Rich Viola stone, dark stained oak cabinetry and tailored joinery introduce depth and structure, while curved furnishings, layered textiles and natural light provide warmth and softness. The expressive Viola stone became a central design feature, carefully integrated across the kitchen and adjoining living spaces to create continuity, visual richness and sculptural impact.

The project also showcases a high level of craftsmanship. Many key elements, including bespoke cabinetry, the custom fireplace wall and a handcrafted sunburst wall feature, were custom designed and produced by Sherwood Furniture. Specialist stone masonry was equally important, with careful slab selection, vein alignment and detailing enhancing the natural movement and beauty of the Viola stone.
