Studio Bartolotta LLC conceived this private island residence on Long Island Sound as an industrial-style beach house informed by the language of 19th-century New England factories. Exposed steel trusses, spiral ductwork, plank ceilings and a catwalk balcony establish a robust architectural character, while charcoal brick, board-formed concrete and Shou Sugi Ban cedar ground the home within its coastal setting. A pair of 50-foot bifurcated chimneys anchor the composition and create a defining landmark visible across the landscape.
