Studio James has unveiled Elevated Ease, a reimagined 2,500 square foot vacation home that transforms a traditional alpine property into a warm and contemporary retreat shaped around family living. Designed as a full remodel, the project reflects Studio James’ intention to create a home that feels elevated yet deeply inviting, balancing refined design with comfort and practicality.

Originally defined by a more conventional mountain aesthetic, the property was reworked to better align with the clients’ lifestyle and personality. Studio James approached the residence holistically, drawing natural elements from the surrounding alpine environment into the interiors to establish a grounded and cohesive atmosphere. Exposed beams introduce architectural depth throughout the home, while custom Venetian plaster softens the interiors and adds subtle warmth.
Studio James layered natural materials, tactile finishes and carefully curated furnishings to create continuity between each room. The design avoids overly thematic references to mountain living, instead delivering a quieter sense of place through texture, proportion and thoughtful detailing. This approach allows the clients’ existing artwork collection to integrate naturally into the scheme, adding colour and individuality without overwhelming the interiors.
The project succeeds through its carefully balanced layering of materials and furnishings, creating spaces that feel connected, effortless and highly liveable. Studio James also focused on improving the home’s functionality, rethinking layouts and circulation to better support daily life while maintaining the relaxed atmosphere expected of a retreat property.
Throughout the residence, Studio James has created interiors that feel authentic to both the setting and the clients themselves. The result is a modern alpine home that combines warmth, texture and understated sophistication, delivering a retreat that feels timeless, personal and closely connected to its natural surroundings.
