Tatami by Studio Nesef

Studio Nesef has created a contemporary dining environment that balances understated luxury with warmth, comfort and a welcoming sense of arrival. Every aspect of the project reflects a carefully considered approach to hospitality design, where architecture, materiality, lighting and the guest experience work together to create a refined yet approachable destination. The open plan layout encourages a sense of openness while maintaining intimate dining areas through thoughtful spatial organisation.

A restrained palette of white limestone, pale timber and polished stone establishes a calm architectural backdrop, enhancing both brightness and the perceived scale of the interior. The defining feature is the sculptural timber ceiling, where repeated vertical and overhead slats introduce rhythm, texture and depth while subtly organising the dining space without enclosing it. Integrated planting softens the architectural lines, introduces natural colour and strengthens the connection between the interior and its surroundings.

At the heart of the composition, David Groppi’s Moon light provides a memorable focal point. Its oversized spherical form creates a striking contrast with the linear geometry of the timber structure, while its soft, diffused illumination enriches the dining experience with a warm and intimate atmosphere. The light toned furniture complements the natural material palette, reinforcing continuity throughout the interior while ensuring the environment remains elegant, relaxed and highly functional.

Studio Nesef’s thoughtful combination of materials, lighting, proportions and spatial planning creates a hospitality setting that feels sophisticated without becoming formal or uninviting. The project demonstrates how carefully balanced design can strengthen a venue’s identity while enhancing guest comfort. The result is a memorable dining destination where natural materials, sculptural architectural elements and ambient lighting come together to create a timeless and welcoming experience.
