WATG and Wimberly Interiors reimagined the resort’s 483 guestrooms and signature spaces, including the Presidential Lounge and Martha’s Market, while maintaining the property’s historic integrity. Each of the five guestroom wings reflects the surrounding landscape and the resort’s architectural heritage, featuring vintage hues and timeless patterns that embody Virginian hospitality. The Great Hall now presents a lighter, more open atmosphere, anchored by a custom 100-foot rug celebrating Virginia’s natural beauty. Nearby, the Lobby Bar and Georgian Room incorporate deep tones and presidential portraits, while the Washington Library has been restored as a sunroom, recalling its original design. Martha’s Market has also been modernized into an inviting, sunlit café.
New additions include the Old Course Pavilion, a distinguished venue for up to 225 guests, and the transformation of one of the oldest structures into a contemporary restaurant. Enhanced recreational facilities and structural upgrades have been carefully implemented to maintain historical authenticity while improving functionality. The landscape design, featuring native trees and seasonal flora, ensures a tranquil setting year-round.
