Entertaining was one of the key aspects of the design brief. The designer’s number one goal was accommodating numerous guests and offering them a luxurious experience while on board Da Vinci (a Mangusta 165). Transforming the space from relaxation mode to party mode at a moment’s notice had to be thought out logistically. Several locations needed to be incorporated: the sun deck, the meeting area, the outdoor bar, outdoor dining, and lounge area. A dance floor was an important feature on the aft deck. Discrete areas for business meetings were needed throughout the yacht. Maxine Tissenbaum was asked to maximize the number of guests that the boat could accommodate.

When Maxine Tissenbaum first thought about the concept for Da Vinci, her client was the focus. She wanted it to have the strength of personality that he embodies, and to be a refuge from a very fast-paced life. When designing Da Vinci, the designer made sure that it was glamorous and sexy, but still inviting and playful. Ready to entertain on the high seas, but easy to find a quiet nook to work and relax in. Working hand in hand with the Mangusta team was said to be a truly wonderful experience, as everyone worked together to bring the outcome to perfection. Da Vinci is bespoke and has all the elements of a sophisticated home.

The client wished for striking, bold fabric concepts for the outdoor areas. Comfort and style were equally as important. Creating an open, spacious environment with as much light as possible was a significant part of the design. Stylish elements such as feature walls, beautiful linens, and special accents to make the yacht unique were mandated. Fabrics and materials were sourced throughout Europe and the United States in order to make this yacht a reality.

The designer’s favourite aspect was said to be working with the client to realize his dreams and seeing it come to fruition. This was attained by finding the perfect balance of entertaining and creating the warmth of a true home. There is a continuous flow throughout the yacht, every room connecting to one another through the use of fabrics, colours and textures; yet every room has its own personality that makes it unique. Da Vinci clearly expresses the comfort and luxury for her guests who are able to enjoy a number of private or social areas on-board, inside, or alfresco.
