Project Name: M/Y REM

Date Completed: June 2016

Interior Designer: MAKOMIM

M/Y REM is a new generation semi displacement hull motor yacht with an economic and medium speed regime. She gives exceptional views through the full height main deck windows and sliding doors. The experienced boat owner’s wish was to have a boat with economic cruising and a medium top speed when needed. The idea was that she would give an aggressive look and have a very close relation to the sea.

Thanks to the semi displacement hull with tested bulbous bow geometry, the twin speed regime makes it possible for this 33-metre yacht, to cruise at 12 knots, maximum 17 knots. She has a range of 1400 nm, that allows the owner to plan longer trips. A forward bulging bulwark creates a private balcony for the owner and makes it possible to see the sea through the sliding doors and cleverly positioned glass insert in the bulwark. The owners cabin has 270 degrees of visibility on the sides and great view of the sky through the enormous skylight on top. Motorised curtains can provide absolute black out when necessary.

The vessel outlines design both from inside out and outside inwards. The two VIP cabins and two guest cabin at lower deck have great visibility and fresh air through the oversized triple portholes. Some of Karatas Yacht Design’s favourite aspects of the project includes the owners’ area providing fantastic visibility through the private balcony and skylight, the saloon and inside dining with full height windows and sliding doors to create the relaxed feeling with a great view, and the twin speed regime, economical and fast speeds. The realisation of M/Y REM was possible through seasoned owners, Tufan Avsar, the project manager, and builder Mengi Yay Yachts.
