Project Saona is the first advance of Josh Rodriguez’s studio, RODRIGUEZDESIGN, towards the Spanish superyacht market. RODRIGUEZDESIGN teamed up with renowned Spanish shipyard Atollvic, who are well known for their aluminium new builds, refit projects as well as their maintenance. Project Saona was the by-product of a team of experts brainstorming and coming up with an idea that will revolutionise the yacht industry in Spain.

Saona is a full aluminium build, measuring 55m in length and has a beam of 11m. It will displace just 600 tons at a half load draft of just 2,1m, making her an ideal Bahamas yacht. With a top speed of 22 knots, and a range of 4500nm at a long-range speed of 12kn, Project Saona will be both fast and efficient to run.

The key aspect in the design and the most important feature about Project Saona is socialising. A very large beach club, coupled with calm, warm colours and designer furniture by the Spanish brand Kettal, encourage guest to relax and enjoy the views. Whilst on the contrary Saona has plenty of storage for tenders and toys if guests are felling more energetic. The owners private deck features his and hers bathrooms, walk in closets and a studio to ensure the upmost independence and exclusivity from other guests and distractions. The owners deck also features a private terrace allowing the owners to retreat into complete privacy whist still enjoying the benefits of the open air.

Her fold out balconies open to create a seamless space between her and nature. Design-wise, the magic starts at the back: her dropped sheer line gives her a sporty yet elegant look, combining both modern and classic design styles. Saona is more than a yacht, it’s a statement. The Spanish Yacht-building sector is undergoing a boom, and in the next few years it will become a pillar of the yacht industry. More and more owners are looking at Spain as an alternative, and Saona will be the spearhead that will shift things in its favour.
