Designer: GOOOD srl

Optimares SPA, in collaboration with GOOOD srl, takes a pioneering step in redefining business class travel with the unveiling of SoFab. This innovative business class seat, presented at the 2023 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, stands as a testament to the commitment to sustainability without compromising on passenger comfort and luxurious ambiance.

SoFab emerges as a beacon of sustainable luxury in the aviation industry. Recognizing the urgent need for a greener approach to air travel, SoFab tackles the carbon footprint challenge head-on. The seat’s ingenious design significantly reduces weight, approximately 63kg per passenger, offering a substantial solution to the fuel consumption and emissions associated with air travel.

Unlike traditional business class seats, SoFab doesn’t just prioritize sustainability; it delivers an unparalleled user experience. The seat seamlessly transforms from a plush chaise lounge to a full-width bed, showcasing a perfect blend of luxury, simplicity, and sustainability. This transformative feature sets SoFab apart, promising passengers a comfortable and eco-conscious journey.

The genesis of SoFab is rooted in the essential amalgamation of sustainability and luxury. In an era where environmental awareness is paramount, SoFab addresses this concern by offering a low-weight, mechanically actuated seating solution that upholds the hallmark luxury of business class while significantly reducing fuel burn and emissions.

SoFab’s design is a marriage of minimalism and elegance, where form and function coalesce seamlessly. The use of sustainable materials crafted from recycled scrap feedstocks underscores its commitment to environmental consciousness. The manual actuation system not only simplifies the seat transition process but also eliminates the need for excessive electrical components, fostering a unique and intuitive interaction with passengers.

SoFab sets itself apart by eliminating the reliance on heavy electrical and mechanical components, resulting in an extraordinary weight reduction. On average, the seat is at least 50% lighter than currently available business class seats. This substantial weight reduction translates into significant fuel savings, making air travel more efficient and eco-friendly.
