Kurt Merki Jr has unveiled Zeitgeist, an 86.5-metre superyacht concept that seamlessly integrates sustainability with next-generation luxury. Presented at the 2024 Monaco Yacht Show, Zeitgeist redefines the future of yachting through advanced energy solutions, innovative materials, and a forward-thinking approach to eco-conscious living on the water.

At the heart of the design is a commitment to reducing environmental impact. The yacht features three wind turbines alongside an expansive 800m² solar roof, which not only generates renewable energy but also provides shade for the hidden sky deck. A unique 20m² automated vertical nursery on the lower deck ensures a continuous supply of fresh produce, allowing for greater self-sufficiency and reducing reliance on external provisions.

Zeitgeist embraces open-air living with a series of expansive exterior spaces. The bow features a dedicated e-VTOL landing pad, providing seamless access for modern air mobility, while a 12-seat dining terrace offers a refined al fresco experience. The pool deck is highlighted by a 10-metre infinity pool, creating an immersive connection to the surrounding ocean. At the stern, a spacious beach club invites guests to unwind at the water’s edge. The owner’s suite, spanning 80m², includes a private terrace, ensuring an exclusive retreat, while five guest suites offer luxurious accommodations with privacy in mind.

Material innovation plays a defining role in Zeitgeist’s sustainable vision. The use of bio-based decking, natural fibre composites, CO₂-neutral concrete furniture, and plant-based leather alternatives contributes to a significantly reduced environmental footprint. These materials, chosen for their durability and eco-friendliness, align with the yacht’s ethos of responsible luxury.

The 800m² solar roof, a key architectural element, not only harnesses energy but also enhances the yacht’s sleek, modern aesthetic. Designed to merge cutting-edge technology with timeless elegance, Zeitgeist exemplifies a new era in superyacht design—one that balances innovation, luxury, and environmental responsibility.

With its bold, forward-thinking approach, Kurt Merki Jr’s Zeitgeist sets a new standard for sustainable yachting, offering an inspiring vision for the future of life at sea.
