Interior Designer: Debora Aguiar

Shipyard: Tankoa Yachts

Debora Aguiar Arquitetos Associados has completed the interior design for the Tankoa T450, a 45 metre yacht built by Tankoa Yachts that blends Italian naval engineering with the warmth and elegance of Brazilian residential design.

Constructed at Tankoa Yachts’ facility in Civitavecchia, the vessel was conceived as a true “home on the water” for experienced Brazilian owners who spend extended periods at sea. The brief called for a departure from conventional nautical interiors, favouring instead a sophisticated residential atmosphere that would feel welcoming and comfortable while retaining the refinement expected of a modern superyacht.

Debora Aguiar Arquitetos Associados approached the project with the aim of integrating interior architecture and exterior spaces into a unified whole. Floor to ceiling glazing in the main salon strengthens the connection with the surrounding Mediterranean landscape, allowing natural light to permeate the interior and reinforcing a sense of openness. Pale wood surfaces extend across multiple decks, creating spatial continuity and amplifying the luminosity of the yacht’s interior.

The design palette prioritises neutral tones, tactile materials and subtle contrasts intended to encourage relaxation and sensory comfort. Soft textiles add warmth to the spaces, while bespoke cabinetry, furniture and sculptural elements were developed with careful attention to proportion and detail. The restrained approach avoids excessive decoration, relying instead on refined craftsmanship and controlled lighting to create a timeless atmosphere.

Designing a residential style interior within a maritime structure required close collaboration with naval engineers. Debora Aguiar Arquitetos Associados worked alongside technical teams to ensure stability, durability and compliance with maritime regulations while maintaining the integrity of the design vision.

The studio’s experience in bespoke residential architecture proved central to translating this philosophy into the yachting environment. By carefully balancing engineering precision with human centred design, the interior transforms a highly technical vessel into a calm and emotionally engaging living space.

The result is a yacht defined not simply by luxury, but by atmosphere and wellbeing. Through thoughtful material choices, fluid spatial transitions and a consistent design language, the Tankoa T450 offers its owners a refined retreat at sea designed for long term comfort and everyday living.
