Superyachts are highly exclusive and individual assets with sophisticated design. Octoport believe that these are characteristics that the deck furniture should also reflect. Since 2018, they have been meeting the ever-increasing demand for tailor-made deck furniture made of carbon. Handcrafted in Germany, extremely durable and so light that all pieces are uncomplicated to handle.

The Lounge Chair RHEA has a base material of carbon fibre. All Octoport furniture is produced entirely of carbon to make it light, durable and sustainable. The design for the piece is sleek and stylish, and reflects the sophisticated exterior lines of a superyacht. Due to the carbon fibre base, it is also very practicable due to its light weight and durable construction. It features fabric from Maria Flora, and has been designed especially for deck use. Extremely durable, sophisticated, and easy to handle.

Carbon fibres have several advantages including high stiffness, high tensile strength, low weight, high chemical resistance, high temperature tolerance and low thermal expansion. These characteristics have made them very popular in aerospace, motorsports and yachting. To produce a carbon fibre, carbon atoms are bonded together in crystals that are more or less aligned parallel to the long axis of the fibre as the crystal alignment gives the fibre a high strength-to-volume ratio – making it very strong for its size. Several thousand fibres are bundled together to form a tow which may be used by itself or woven into a fabric
