Project Noon 52

The Noon 52 is a 52-metre aluminium motor yacht conceived and designed by Leonardo Cecchi, founder and head of Florence-based Yellow Addition Design Studio. Drawing on Cecchi’s experience with prominent shipyards including Benetti and Sanlorenzo, the concept combines fluid exterior lines with a highly considered interior layout and an emphasis on efficient, adaptable living.

The yacht’s exterior is shaped directly by the sea, with its continuous superstructure inspired by the slow, long swells of ocean waves. This sinuous form creates a strong connection between the yacht and its surroundings, while expansive outdoor areas are designed to maximise contact with the water. A spacious beach club on the lower deck incorporates a day head and bar and can be converted into a water toy garage, while the main deck features a sheltered aft cockpit.

On the upper deck, an alfresco dining area sits beneath a transparent overhead structure, allowing light to pass through from the glass-bottomed pool on the sun deck above. The sun deck also incorporates a bar and forward sunbathing area, providing further opportunities for relaxation outdoors.

Inside, the geometric rigour of the layout contrasts with the softness of the exterior. The Noon 52 accommodates up to 12 guests across six cabins, including four double guest cabins on the lower deck. Light materials and linear forms define the interiors, with chromed steel, light lacquers and leathers, grey oak and pale marble creating an atmosphere of understated elegance. Separate guest and crew circulation routes enhance privacy and operational efficiency.

The yacht also offers considerable flexibility, with multiple forward layout configurations and an engine room capable of accommodating hybrid propulsion systems. Aluminium was selected for its lightness, rigidity, durability and recyclability, supporting reduced fuel consumption and extended range.

The concept also allows for diesel-electric hydrogen fuel-cell technology, using purified seawater to produce hydrogen for electric generators and onboard energy requirements. Through this combination of wave-inspired design, adaptable spaces and forward-looking technology, Yellow Addition Design Studio presents the Noon 52 as a yacht centred on efficiency and a close relationship with the marine environment.
