Designed by Younique Designs, this Parisian Art Deco – inspired bathroom transforms a dated 1990s space into a refined sanctuary defined by light, geometry, and ritualistic luxury. Drawing from the French architectural character of the residence and the homeowners’ appreciation for bold, expressive interiors, the design merges elegance with indulgence while resolving functional shortcomings such as limited storage and poor spatial cohesion.

At the centre of the room, a sculptural bathtub surround crafted from LED-backlit onyx serves as a luminous focal point, its glowing surface echoed in the countertops and backsplash to create continuity and visual drama. A custom-designed marble tile floor anchors the space with timeless Art Deco geometry, while an overhead Venetian glass fixture adds a layer of glamour through refracted light and sparkle.

Practical challenges were addressed through meticulously detailed custom cabinetry incorporating concealed storage solutions. Integrated within the millwork is a handcrafted brass pocket door sourced from Portugal, featuring inlaid walnut accents that elevate the architectural narrative and function as a statement piece in its own right.

The experiential quality of the space is further enhanced by an aromatherapy steam shower framed in unlacquered brass. Operable transoms reference traditional European design, while plumbing fixtures and hardware in unlacquered brass introduce warmth and a patina that will evolve over time. Jewelry-like details—including cabinet hardware crafted from rock crystal and horn—add tactile refinement and artisanal character.

The success of the design lies in its clarity of intention. Each element reinforces the next, establishing a strong visual hierarchy and a carefully balanced composition. A cohesive colour palette, considered proportions, and strategic use of texture and negative space ensure the room feels both luxurious and effortless. The result is a deeply personal retreat that embodies the enduring glamour of Parisian Art Deco with confidence and authenticity.
