Red Cliffs Lodge represents a comprehensive renovation and repositioning of a historic hospitality destination located along the Colorado River in Moab, Utah. Surrounded by the region’s iconic red rock formations, the project reimagines the property as a refined collection of cabins, suites, guestrooms, and public spaces that celebrate the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the American West while meeting the standards of a contemporary luxury hospitality experience.

The renovation was undertaken through a collaborative partnership between Atwater Inc. and Sormeh Rienne Design. While Sormeh Rienne Design led the design of the lodge and public areas, Atwater Inc. was responsible for the interiors of the guestrooms, suites, and cabins. Together, the firms established a cohesive design vision rooted in the property’s unique setting and historical significance.

Rather than relying on conventional rustic lodge aesthetics, the design draws inspiration directly from Moab’s dramatic landscape. A carefully curated palette of warm earth tones, natural textures, and handcrafted elements reflects the surrounding geological formations, creating an authentic connection between the interiors and their environment. Contemporary furnishings and sophisticated detailing complement these influences, resulting in spaces that feel both timeless and elevated.

A key objective of the project was to enhance the guest experience while preserving the character and legacy of the property. Existing architectural features were thoughtfully integrated with new materials, furnishings, lighting, and artwork to create a seamless and cohesive design language throughout the resort.

The guestrooms, suites, and cabins designed by Atwater Inc. provide tranquil retreats that encourage a meaningful connection to the surrounding landscape, while the public spaces foster a sense of community and reflect the lodge’s rich heritage. The completed renovation successfully establishes a fresh identity for Red Cliffs Lodge, delivering an immersive hospitality experience inspired by the remarkable beauty of the American Southwest.
