PROJECT KAI, the latest 49.5-metre smart-hybrid motoryacht concept from BAZ Yacht Design, redefines luxury with a focus on owner privacy, sustainability, and innovative spatial solutions. Designed to remain within marina size restrictions while maximising onboard comfort, KAI offers a sophisticated blend of cutting-edge technology and timeless aesthetics.

The concept was developed to create an eco-friendly gentleman’s yacht that prioritises complete owner privacy. This vision led to the design of a fully enclosed owner’s deck, ensuring that no crew members need to pass through, even during docking operations. The owner’s deck is a private sanctuary, featuring an office lounge, an open-air cinema, a sundeck, and a golf practice area. Below, VIP and guest cabins are located on the main deck, each equipped with full-height windows that flood the interiors with natural light and provide an uninterrupted connection to the sea. A dedicated underwater observatory lounge and a massage room further enhance the yacht’s tranquil atmosphere.

One of KAI’s standout features is its innovative descending aft deck, which transforms into a spacious 125m² beach club with foldable bulwarks. A 4.8 x 2.4-metre seawater pool doubles as a lifting platform for a 13-metre tender, eliminating the need for towing and ensuring a streamlined cruising experience. This multifunctional design enhances both practicality and onboard enjoyment, particularly for long-distance voyages.

Sustainability is at the core of KAI’s design, with a hybrid propulsion system that allows for multiple navigation modes. Owners can switch between zero-emission silent electric cruising, diesel-electric efficiency, crossover mode for extended range, and boost mode for added power. The MAN Smart Hybrid engines provide seamless transitions between these settings, optimising both performance and environmental impact.

Visually, KAI exudes elegance with its soft, flowing lines and a monochromatic colour scheme that creates a sense of visual harmony. With its seamless integration of privacy, comfort, and eco-conscious technology, PROJECT KAI represents a forward-thinking approach to modern yachting.
