The Best of The Americas (Hospitality) – The Winners Edition vol. 2

THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY INTERNATIONAL HOTEL & PROPERTY AWARDS

THE WINNERS EDITION

Ilios Tulum: Restaurant – The Americas Winner

Ilios Cancun: Restaurant – Global Winner

Filipao Nunes Arquitectos

Double Award Winner at the 2021 International Hotel & Property Awards

Ilios Tulum: Ilios Tulum is a Greek restaurant that arises in the middle of Tulum, inspired by the mixture between the elements of the architecture of the Greek islands such as Athens, Mykonos and Santorini with the Mayan ruins such as Zama, Coba and Xel-Há. The fusion between both cultures makes you feel that you are in a magical place, full of history.

Ilios Cancun: This project allowed Filipao Nunes Arquitectos to design a fascinating place, a meeting space in which each visit can be different and of which the word spreads inviting those who are always in search of new recreational adventures. Respecting scale and proportion, with the openings of the structure at the same distance, the strings simulating the Greek columns, the beams, and the capitals, this is the team’s minimalist and dematerialized reinterpretation of classical Greek architecture.

Chateau Elan Winery and Resort – Versaille Restaurant: Restaurant within a Hotel – Global Winner

Chateau Elan Winery and Resort – Versaille Restaurant: Hotel Over 200 Rooms – The Americas Winner

BLUR Workshop

Double Award Winner at the 2021 International Hotel & Property Awards

In 1985 Chateau Elan Winery and Resort was created in Braselton, Georgia, becoming the first winery in the region since prohibition. Wheelock saw the potential in this 3,500-acre resort, which proved out when the newly renovated Chateau Elan opened in 2020. The renovation included every component of the resort, including 252 guestrooms and 25 suites and four food and beverage outlets, with a total cost of over $25 million.

The largest challenge was how to take a series of very disparate components of the resort, built at different times and in very different conditions and bring them up to a consistent quality both from an operational and a design standpoint. Very little was left untouched. The exterior was enhanced by a new colour scheme, windows and limestone rock work, with the addition of new hardscaped café surrounded by boxwoods, under a canopy of manicured trees.

ICRAVE

Marquee/Avenue Singapore: Bar/Club/Lounge – Global Winner

The concept from the very first meeting was to make the best nightclub in the world. The intent was to create a Nocturnal Carnival, a ‘playground for adults’. The blend of technology and design and the collection of different unique venues (both Marquee and Avenue in one location), allow the space to morph over the night, and change from season to season, offering a truly unique experience every single visit.

Marquee is set up as a series of follies on three different floors that the guests get to explore and discover. There are multiple bars each with their own design twist, and while Marquee has the best table service in all of Asia, the space is playful for all guests with actual amusement rides guaranteeing a great time.

Overlooking Wildwood Park and Saratoga Creek, the 47-room boutique hotel is a quiet haven surrounded by lush landscaping and a babbling brook.

To capture the spirit of place, the project team reimagined the guest rooms and suites as a serene, timeless design that effortlessly blends crisp coastal detailing with country-cottage chic decor. Drawing inspiration from the site and Neo-Victorian architecture, through the use of natural light, modern lines, and layered tones, the beautifully appointed rooms evoke a breezy yet sophisticated West Coast feel.

The Marriott Hotel Xuzhou: Hotel Over 200 Rooms – Asia Pacific Winner

The Marriott Xuzhou features a total area of 53,000m2 with a wide range of Public Areas including several F&B outlets, large meeting and convention facilities, a luxury Spa and a total of 286 guestrooms and suites. The overall design theme develops through a contemporary approach to forms and details that pay homage to Xuzhou’s rich architectural and cultural heritage.

The lake front location at the base of beautiful mountains provided the initial inspiration for the hotel’s interiors. Accentuating this focal point, a lobby fountain is also leading towards the lakeview and provide a central organizing element of the main lobby. HBA International – San Francisco

The Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla: Hotel Suite – The Americas Winner

Situated in Cancun’s lively hotel zone overlooking the natural beauty of Nichupté Bay, the Canopy by Hilton Cancun La Isla is an urban oasis, striking a delicate balance between “playful” and “refined” through art-infused elements integrated into every space of the hotel. True to the Canopy by Hilton brand, the energy and colourful culture of Cancun is reflected in the property’s thoughtfully local experiences through architecture, design, culinary, and neighbourhood-based programming.

Upon entry, a striking lattice-work ceiling weaves its way over the lobby and into the Café, suggesting the handmade ladders and layered root systems that descend into a cenote. Honest natural textures of stone and wood combine with vibrant patterns to create a distinctive introduction. Seating groups take on a relaxed, playful attitude amidst the grandeur and elegance of the lobby volume. Sitting prominently above the Canopy Central bar, a signature mural tells an imaginative story of a fox in search of nourishment in the desert; upon discovering and drinking from an oasis of magical agaves, stays forever in that enchanting place where all fear is lost.
