The Kedma Hotel by Ruth Arad Design
The Kedma Hotel was designed as a Nabataean khan at Sde Boker on the Spice Route, which was one of the most important trading routs in ancient times and along which spices, essential and luxury goods were transported between the East and Europe. To honour this history, the brief called for the design of a khan. As one approaches the seemingly unadorned inward-looking structure and steps through its hefty doors into the intimate courtyard with its abundant vegetation and swimming pool, the story becomes clear – this is a khan that brings to life the treasures of the past in a modern idiom.
SLS Dubai Hotel & Residences by Bishop Design by Paul Bishop
SLS Dubai is a unique cabinet of curiosities that never ceases to delight.
Born out of Los Angeles and Miami respectively, SLS Hotels announced a much-anticipated debut in one of the most desirable global destinations. The driving sentiments and design ideology around creating this Middle Eastern evolution for the brand called out for a fusion of Dubai’s naturally intoxicating character coupled with the undeniable style of the eminent SLS label. Rooms, suites, and public areas within this new hotel were to hold their own distinctive character yet remain visually connected in the creation of an entity that exudes ultimate luxury and class whilst always respectful of functional aspirations.
Gordonia Private Hotel – Exclusive Suite by Ran and Morris Architecture & Design
Perched on a peak in the Judean Mountains is the serene oasis of The Gordonia Private Hotel. Designed by Ran & Morris Architecture & Design, it rises like a micro-climatic paradise in the former communal grounds of Kibbutz Ma’ale Hachamisha.
The design process was based around the principles that were developed when Ran & Morris Architecture & Design worked on the original suites at the hotel, 5 years earlier. For the exclusive suite, the designers did not deviate from these principles, but incorporated more intense colours and sophisticated furniture. The lighting fixtures and art are sources from leading local companies, and are placed alongside unique complementary items.
Carna by Bishop Design by Paul Bishop
At Carna, the butcher is King, and we are his humble visitors. Let the feast commence.
The brief for Carna was simple, yet the result is breath-taking. Discovered on the 74th floor SLS Hotel & Residences, Carna was to be a contemporary steakhouse and immersive meat experience. Bishop Design by Paul Bishop were given the freedom to explore their own interpretations of what this space should be, from the navigation and functionality through to the very finite details.
