Shortlisted: Hotel Under 200 Rooms Award
The International Hotel & Property Awards 2025
The lobby sets the tone with dynamic stonework inspired by Osaka Castle, intertwined with delicate latticework for a balance of energy and refinement. Amber-lacquered lift halls feature urushi lacquer, bridging traditional Japanese craft with contemporary aesthetics. Curiosity incorporated a series of “surprising encounters” throughout the hotel, creating an inviting ambiance with evolving scenery that makes the space feel like a guesthouse, rich with personal touches.
Each guest room is unique in layout, shaped through a thoughtful collaboration with architects to enhance the spatial experience. Sculptural arrangements of light and dark woods lend a sense of craftsmanship, complemented by artworks from contemporary Japanese artists.
Curiosity worked closely with local artists and artisans, including Kyoto Kawashima Selkon’s soft stone-like textiles and Reiko Sudo of Nuno’s delicate geometric patterns. Specially curated art pieces include Ayako Someya’s seasonal ink paintings, Ishizuka Genta of kyoto’s large urushi sculpture, and glassworks by Miki Komatsu, adding layers of discovery and artistry that embody the Four Seasons’ luxury with Osaka’s local charm.
