Daoust Design

Daoust Design has revealed a new yacht interior concept that explores a sculptural approach to life at sea, where light, texture and fluid spatial composition combine to create an immersive and highly residential environment.

The concept has been developed with a clear ambition: to translate the comfort and familiarity of a private home into a maritime setting. Rather than adopting a conventional nautical aesthetic, the studio has focused on warmth and emotional resonance, using soft, enveloping furnishings and generous, low-profile volumes to establish a calm and inviting atmosphere. The result is an interior defined by quiet sophistication and a strong sense of liveability.

Central to the design is a fluid spatial arrangement that enhances openness and continuity. The main living area unfolds as a seamless sequence of lounge and dining spaces, unified through a coherent architectural language. Large openings connect the interior to the exterior, allowing natural light and panoramic sea views to become integral components of the experience.

Materiality plays a defining role in shaping the yacht’s identity. A refined palette of light oak, textured linen and mineral surfaces such as travertine is complemented by warm metallic accents, creating subtle contrast and depth. This careful layering of materials is paired with bespoke furnishings and Italian-inspired pieces that highlight craftsmanship and tactile quality throughout the interior.

A sculptural lighting installation serves as a focal point within the main living space, introducing a sense of movement that echoes the rhythm of the sea. This artistic gesture is further reinforced by the inclusion of a sculptural Innu artwork, adding a cultural dimension and celebrating the role of craftsmanship in the design.

According to Daoust Design, the project succeeds through its balance of aesthetics and comfort. By prioritising natural light, soft forms and a strong connection to the surrounding seascape, the concept creates a cohesive environment that feels both refined and intuitive. Carefully framed views and layered perspectives ensure that the horizon remains ever-present, reinforcing the yacht’s dialogue with its environment and redefining contemporary onboard living.
