Hotel Sosei Sapporo M Gallery, designed by Design Studio Crow Co.,Ltd., is set to be Sapporo’s first five-star boutique hotel, occupying the historic site of Japan’s first full-scale beer brewery, the Kaitakushi Beer Brewery. The hotel aims to bridge Sapporo’s past with its future, emphasizing the “frontier spirit” that fueled the city’s urban development. The design elegantly blends Western and Japanese elements, creating a unique aesthetic that honors the historical significance of the location while incorporating modern artistry.

Upon entering the lobby, guests are greeted by an art piece inspired by hops, symbolising the beginning of Sapporo’s beer brewing story. The lobby design merges old Japanese architectural techniques with elegant Western materials, creating a space that reflects the historical village of Hokkaido in a contemporary context. A curated collection of regional books and imported goods brought in from overseas by the pioneers evoking scenes from social gatherings of the time, enhances the historical ambiance.

The bar lounge features a unique fireplace reminiscent of a beer brewing kiln, surrounded by artistic design elements that create a cozy, inviting atmosphere. The dining room’s design draws inspiration from a young Japanese man’s journey to Germany to learn beer brewing. Show kitchens decorated with ingredients and a light wall featuring 3000 LED-illuminated beer bottles create a mesmerizing dining space that celebrates the brewing process and the passion behind it.
