Eigelberger Architecture & Design has completed a refined single family residence in the heart of Aspen, Colorado, showcasing a contemporary interpretation of mountain living rooted in natural materials and thoughtful craftsmanship. Finished in 2024, the home was designed by Eigelberger Architecture & Design in collaboration with interior designer Shawn Henderson, resulting in a seamless blend of architecture, interiors, and landscape. Brikor Construction brought the vision to life with precision, while Shannon Murphy Landscape reinforced the property’s connection to its dramatic alpine setting.

The residence was recently highlighted in Architectural Digest’s feature “Inside a Sophisticated Aspen Home Nestled in the Mountains,” where its harmony of sophistication, comfort, and serenity was celebrated. Photography by Brandon Huttenlocher and Stephen Kent Johnson captures the home’s elegant proportions and its deep respect for the surrounding landscape.
Eigelberger Architecture & Design prioritised a strong bond between the building and its natural environment. Thirty foot wide openings dissolve the boundary between indoors and outdoors, framing panoramic views of the Aspen Highlands and the mountains of Ajax, Snowmass, and Buttermilk. Wood vaulted ceilings and an array of natural materials reinforce this connection to nature, while clean architectural lines, minimal forms, and curated modern art lend the residence a contemporary tone.
The project balances rustic warmth with modern refinement, creating a home that feels both grounded and elevated. Eigelberger Architecture & Design achieved this by aligning the structure to maximise natural light, encouraging airflow through expansive glazing, and ensuring that each space remains visually and physically connected to the outdoors. The result is a sophisticated mountain retreat that honours its landscape while presenting a fresh, modern interpretation of the traditional ranch house.
