The International Design & Architecture Awards 2025
The clients, having lived in their home for over a decade, sought to replace their glossy and outdated kitchen with one that authentically reflected their evolving lifestyle. Central to the brief was the use of natural stone as the design’s focal point, and an enhanced sense of light and flow throughout the space. To achieve this, Extreme Design integrated crittall doors, maximising daylight and visually connecting the kitchen to the rest of the home.
Every detail of the project was shaped by client involvement. Multiple design meetings and visits to stone yards ensured every material spoke to their refined tastes. The showpiece of the design is the book-matched Patagonia stone cladding the island and sink run, forming a breathtaking symmetrical centerpiece that elevates the entire room.
Practicality was seamlessly integrated into the elegance. A hidden pocket door breakfast station, a generous pantry, and seating for the whole family at the island ensure everyday functionality. The snug space now transitions from a children’s playroom by day to an adult lounge by night, with smart storage solutions keeping clutter hidden.
The addition of a dramatic dark-toned bar replaced a former home office, giving the space new energy for entertaining. Layered lighting, subtly integrated throughout, brings warmth and texture to the natural materials. From a bespoke wooden grill concealing an AC unit to textured veneers and a sociable island induction hob, every element was carefully considered. Extreme Design has delivered a kitchen of enduring elegance and purpose.
