The International Hotel & Property Awards 2026

Fusion Design & Architecture has completed the design of the flagship Everyman Cinema The Whiteley, creating a next generation cinema destination within the landmark redevelopment of The Whiteley in Bayswater. The project blends heritage architecture with cinematic glamour and layered hospitality design to deliver an immersive social experience that extends far beyond traditional film screenings.

Commissioned to elevate the Everyman brand within the historic building, Fusion Design & Architecture was tasked with designing a cinema that functions as both entertainment venue and social hub. The concept centres on transforming public areas into destinations in their own right, encouraging visitors to arrive early, linger and return even outside of film times.

Fusion Design & Architecture organised the design across three levels including two basement floors, navigating the complexity of a building integrated with luxury residential accommodation above. Careful spatial planning, acoustic control and clear circulation routes were essential to ensure a seamless journey from street entrance to bar spaces and screening rooms.

Two distinctive bar environments form the defining feature of the project. At street level, Fusion Design & Architecture reimagined the traditional cinema foyer as a vibrant hospitality space. An amber toned bar with brass accents anchors the lobby, surrounded by velvet seating, rich textures and playful detailing that transform arrival into a social experience.

Further below ground, Fusion Design & Architecture introduced a retro inspired bar designed for a more intimate atmosphere, ideal for private gatherings and late night drinks. Throughout the venue, materials including brass, velvet, fluted marble and bespoke carpets are balanced with exposed concrete that references the building’s architectural heritage.

By creating a sequence of dynamic spaces, Fusion Design & Architecture has delivered a cinema that operates as both entertainment venue and social destination, redefining how audiences experience film in a contemporary urban setting.
