Fusion Interiors Group

Fusion Interiors Group has completed the interior design for Citadines Canal Amsterdam, a refined canal side retreat set within the city’s UNESCO listed Canal District. Housed across a collection of 17th century weavers’ houses, the project transforms historic structures into a contemporary extended stay property that carefully balances heritage, comfort and brand consistency.

Fusion Interiors Group developed a concept rooted in the site’s weaving history, using interlaced threads as a metaphor for layering past and present, local character and global identity. This narrative underpins the entire scheme, allowing the interiors to feel unmistakably Amsterdam while aligning with the Citadines home away from home ethos. Rather than concealing historic proportions and architectural quirks, Fusion Interiors Group embraced them, giving each space individuality and a sense of authenticity.

Within this historic framework, Fusion Interiors Group introduced a soft, residential inspired interior language built on texture, pattern and subtle storytelling. The idea of weaving is reinterpreted through materials and finishes, with textured fabrics, woven look surfaces and intersecting patterns adding depth without disrupting the calm atmosphere required for long stays. A bespoke wallpaper inspired by traditional Dutch textile motifs was designed for the guestroom headboards, creating a strong yet refined sense of place.

The colour palette responds both to the Citadines brand and the surrounding environment. Soft blues echo Amsterdam’s canals and skies, while muted yellows bring warmth and intimacy to the interiors. Public spaces were conceived as flexible, social environments that easily transition from breakfast and daytime working to evening relaxation.

The project’s success lies in Fusion Interiors Group’s ability to merge storytelling, residential comfort and operational functionality. The result is a characterful yet calming property where heritage and contemporary hospitality are seamlessly interwoven, offering guests an experience that feels rooted in place while remaining easy to live in.
