Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur

GA has unveiled the design of Park Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, a landmark hospitality project occupying the upper floors of Merdeka 118, the tallest skyscraper in Asia Pacific. Created for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, the hotel draws inspiration from the traditional Malay Kampung House, which serves as both an architectural and emotional framework for the guest experience.

Rather than interpreting the Kampung House literally, GA reimagined its defining principles of openness, layered transitions and connections between communal and private spaces within a contemporary luxury setting. The result is what GA describes as a home in the sky, balancing the scale and grandeur of the tower with intimacy, warmth and residential comfort.

From arrival to departure, GA placed the guest journey at the centre of the design. Public areas, dining venues, guestrooms and wellness spaces are conceived as interconnected environments that encourage moments of interaction, retreat and discovery. Guests move through a carefully choreographed sequence of spaces, from a welcoming arrival experience through vibrant social areas and into the privacy of guestrooms and suites.

Throughout the hotel, GA integrated Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage through bespoke details inspired by traditional crafts including batik, songket weaving, wood carving and basketry. Woven motifs appear across the interiors, from brass basket weave tiles and stone floor inlays to ceramic relief tiles and rattan light fixtures, creating a cohesive visual language rooted in local tradition.
