Shaped by the site’s distinctive condition and the client’s desire for privacy and tranquillity, the home sits parallel to a main road and lower within the landscape, naturally enclosed by lush greenery. Hall Interiors Pte Ltd embraced this condition as an opportunity to create a calm retreat that feels protected from the surrounding city.

The International Design & Architecture Awards 2026
The design approach was developed in close dialogue with the architectural planning, leading to an intentional inversion of conventional residential zoning. Private sleeping and resting spaces were positioned on the lower level, while the main living, dining and kitchen areas were elevated above. Hall Interiors Pte Ltd used this inversion to choreograph a gradual sense of discovery, allowing intimacy and openness to unfold across different spatial layers as one moves through the home.
Circulation and room arrangement support a lifestyle that balances everyday routines with moments of gathering. Bedrooms and family areas are grounded, quiet and nurturing, while the upper level communal spaces feel open and light filled, with visual connections to the surrounding landscape. Clear zoning ensures privacy is maintained without compromising usability, allowing seamless transitions between private and shared spaces.
Light plays a central role in the interior experience. Hall Interiors Pte Ltd carefully explored light and shadow, using wooden screens to filter daylight and introduce an emotional rhythm that shifts throughout the day. A skylight draws light down the staircase, animating the interior even during overcast weather and reinforcing a calm, almost musical atmosphere.
Material choices further anchor the design. Brushed oak veneer softens the solidity of stone flooring, creating a balanced dialogue between warmth and strength. Through thoughtful layout planning and a deep understanding of the client’s lifestyle, Hall Interiors Pte Ltd delivered a composed, harmonious home that quietly supports everyday family life while offering a serene refuge within the city.
