Developers initially considered the Marin County residence as a tear-down, and even the homeowner’s husband was hesitant to explore its potential. However, Heather K. Bernstein of HKB Interior Design envisioned something entirely different for the property. Undertaking the transformation of this house became a heartfelt endeavor for a blended family of six.
The project began with extensive structural repairs, including addressing foundational issues and eliminating dry rot, which required taking the house down to the studs. Following this critical phase, the team embarked on reimagining and renovating the 5,000-square-foot space to suit the family’s needs.
