Tell us a little about your background in design:
I studied design at the London College of Furniture and served as Creative Director of a well-established Bay Area design firm for 20 years before opening the doors of my namesake studio in 2014. Over the years, I’ve built a diverse portfolio of projects across the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and beyond. Throughout my career, I’ve developed a reputation for creativity, professionalism, attention to detail, and a client-first approach to every project.

How would you describe your personal design style?
Refined, modern, and timeless — with an emphasis on clean lines, layered textures, and a sense of warmth. I strive to create spaces that feel effortless, curated, and deeply personal.

Where does your design inspiration come from?
My inspiration comes from travel, architecture, art, and the natural world — but most of all, from the people I design for. Every client brings a unique story that sparks creativity and shapes the space.

In what direction do you feel that design is moving towards in a general sense?
Design is moving toward more intentional, wellness-focused spaces that balance beauty, function, and sustainability. There’s a growing emphasis on personalization, natural materials, and seamless technology integration.

Name five key themes to consider when approaching design in the future. :
Sustainability, Wellness & Comfort, Technology Integration, Cultural Relevance & Storytelling and Flexibility & Longevity

If you could offer one piece of advice when it comes to designing, what would it be?
Design with intention. Every element in a space should have a purpose — whether it’s to bring function, beauty, comfort, or meaning. When you start with a clear vision and stay true to it, the result is always more authentic and impactful.

How important are The International Design & Architecture Awards?
They’re incredibly important — not only do they recognize excellence and innovation in design globally, but they also provide a valuable platform for exposure, connection, and celebrating the power of great design across cultures and disciplines.

What are your aims and goals for the next twelve months?
Over the next year, I’m focused on bringing several exciting projects to life — including a standout residence in Cabo that allows for bold, resort-inspired design. I also aim to expand the studio’s creative reach, deepen client relationships, and carve out time for travel and inspiration to continue evolving our work with fresh perspective and intention.

Your most treasured possession?
My most treasured possession isn’t an object, but a collection of memories and moments shared with family and friends. Those experiences inspire my work and remind me what truly matters.

Your favourite holiday destination?
Europe is my favorite holiday destination — I love exploring its rich history, diverse cultures, stunning architecture, and incredible art scenes. Each trip offers new inspiration and unforgettable experiences.

Your favourite hotel, restaurant & bar?
Hotel: Four Seasons
Restaurant: Saison in San Francisco
Bar: Clock Bar Union Square Hotel, San Francisco

Your favourite book, film & song?
Book: To Kill A Mockingbird
Film: Star Wars
Song: I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor

Your favourite food and drink?
Food: Italian
Drink: Martini

Your favourite way to spend an afternoon?
My favorite way to spend an afternoon is exploring local galleries or antique shops, followed by a leisurely coffee or tea at a cozy café — a perfect blend of inspiration and relaxation.

If you weren’t in this sector, what would you alternative profession be?
If I weren’t in design, I think I’d enjoy being a detective — I’m naturally curious, enjoy solving problems, and love uncovering stories, which is not too different from what I do in design!

Anything else interesting?
I’m passionate about finding beauty in the little things — whether it’s a handwritten note, a favorite book, or a quiet walk. These simple joys inspire my creativity and keep me grounded in both life and design.
