Classic elegance with strong masculine exterior lines and features, for a modern straight bow vessel. M/Y Alkhor is based on a proven platform by Benetti with a very specific layout following the owner’s requests. She is a 70 metre yacht with all the features of an 80+ metre yacht. Working closely with the owner, Luxury Projects created photorealistic renders in order to define every detail already in the concept phase, where ceilings have innovative shapes and lighting has a centre role in the whole project.

The client specifically instructed Luxury Projects that the design and actual execution needed to be absolutely faithful. Right from the drafting of the project into the choice of furnishing and materials, throughout the whole design and build process Luxury Projects used the high-resolution renders to inform the client every step of the way of the design process.

All furniture, fabrics, soft furnishings, flooring and lighting are custom made materials specifically for this project. Each piece has been made by artisans of the province of Marche, which is a fashion and luxury furniture district. To ensure a homely feeling, and since the owner specifically instructed the designers not to use any rugs, Luxury Projects needed to invent other ways to enrich the design of the flooring and create some “movement”. They created decorative floor motifs with materials such as marble, parquet, carpeting, leather, creating “chevron” patterns and lines that give movement throughout the yacht.

Not to create a dull appearance but an interesting and playful one, a number of special and innovating materials were used on details to create the element of surprise. In collaboration with some fine Italian Artisans and after several tests, samples boards and mock-ups were created of finishes in “Liquid Metal” in bronze, a resin in pearl white with a 3D effect and a “Flexible Stone Veneer” from a real natural stone. With a view to creating a harmonious environment, Luxury Projects have deliberately used the same materials used on board for fixed furniture also on all the custom-designed loose furniture. This helps to create continuity between the architectural part and the free-standing furniture. The finishes on the custom-made panels with 5mm wide leather strips are stitched as they are in top luxury leather fashion accessories in Marche – the shoe district of Italy.

To fulfil the client’s wish to have a warm and calm interior but also light and modern, Luxury Projects needed to work with natural colours and materials, no shiny or glittery furnishings. The number of materials was therefore limited, and the same theme was used throughout the yacht in order to create a uniform style & atmosphere.
