Kimberly Williams

Kimberly Williams was the winner of the Interior Design / VIP Completions Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2022.
This client has owned many private planes throughout his professional life was very clear about how he wanted to operate onboard. He didn’t want a standard corporate aircraft, he wanted something fully bespoke, unique & different.

The client allowed Kimberly Williams to work with exceptional artisans worldwide to create special fabrics & furnishings for a truly bespoke jet. His primary needs included integrating soft textures such as cashmere carpeting, his own seat is silk snakeskin chenille (the guests’ seats are custom dyed leather to match the carpet), a Haastens mattress with a shearling headboard and 2x bespoke lamps made of python skin dyed in a burgundy colour made by Frank Pollaro. Also in the bedroom, there is an angled cabinet with a fiddle rail and another lamp created from a sting ray which was dyed green and made by Nicolas Aubagnac. The walls have leather above dado and a woven silk and wool soft texture beneath.

The overall feeling is comforting, however when the aircraft is flying at 40,000 ft. the light will capture each upholstered fabric creating a glistening affect, evoking a luxurious atmosphere. Kimberly Williams was also requested to create an executive desk with a complementary table to hold the client’s daily newspapers. The desk is made of golden zebrawood to match the bulkheads, a suede desktop with a crocodile waterfall & brass bands decorating the base of the legs. The newspaper stand is comprised of zebrawood, a dense cushion with a built-in suede tray to hold the daily papers. The divan across is made by Dimore Milano and uses a bespoke fabric called Kiss Me Tiger. It has a copper thread running through it which, again, captures the light beautifully.

The interior creates a much-needed comfort while traveling from one place to another. It captures all the five senses, which Kimberly Williams strives to achieve in every project. The nose will capture the smell of the leather and the flowers, the eyes will capture the glimmering beauty of the fabrics, the ears will hear tranquil sounds, and all things taste better when they are displayed on whimsical, colourful china & cutlery.
