TWW Yachts have been shortlisted for the Refit Award in  The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023.

TWW Yachts, in collaboration with De Voogt Naval Architects, Mulder Design, Design Unlimited, WMC Superyachts and Balk Shipyard, recently completed an extensive refit of the 45.55-metre superyacht, now renamed EMERALD. Originally built by Feadship in 1990, the yacht’s classic exterior design has been upgraded and extended to a total length of 50.4 meters.

The owners’ desire was to combine the best features of previously chartered yachts while maintaining the classic exterior of the Feadship design. The team proposed extensive changes to the interior architecture to modernize and improve the spaces onboard for both guests and crew. The main and boat decks were heavily remodelled, with an additional VIP cabin added to the main deck, an enlarged commercial-style galley, and improved crew circulation.

During the design process, the owners’ fantastic sense of fit, finish, and style was used as inspiration for the interior design. The team worked closely with the owners and their family, using the latest CAD and visualization software combined with face-to-face collaboration and physical sample testing to finalize the interior design package.

The exterior design underwent an equally extensive process, using styling evolution to smooth dated lines and integrate modern amenities while maintaining the timeless lines of the period Feadship design.

The resulting interior exudes opulence and style while maintaining a serene and relaxing atmosphere, appealing to a wide charter market. The interior design created a sense of quality and sophistication, using subtle differences in tone and texture combined with rich dark timber.

The integration of the interior and exterior designs was sensitively and beautifully done, creating an optimized yacht that secures its future at sea for another 30 years. The personal and enjoyable design process shared with the owners adds a refined atmosphere that is impossible to create in any other way.

The extensive refit of EMERALD, completed by TWW Yachts, De Voogt Naval Architects, Mulder Design, Design Unlimited, and Balk Shipyard, successfully transformed the classic Feadship design into a modern and luxurious superyacht that will continue to impress for years to come.
