Until now, when decorative surfaces were required for walls and ceilings in cruisers, the use of high-pressure laminates in various colours and patterns has been standard. However, more and more ship owners are striving for the kind of luxury and aesthetics that are usually only seen on mega yachts. LIMARTEC© Wood Veneer Systems are IMO-certified panels and profiles with natural wood surfaces – they raise the bar for the industry as they open brand new perspectives for interior designers.

The combination of layers (core, veneer, varnish) has been vigorously tested and meets the high standards required for surface materials with low flame spread characteristics, as specified by IMO Res. MSC. 307(88) – (FTP Code 2010) Part 2 and Part 5. Interior PROMAN’s specially developed and patented system for natural and reconfigured wood veneers preserves the natural colour nuances and feel of real wood while also guaranteeing compliance with SOL AS and PYC standards / REG Yacht Code (B). The panels and profiles are additionally protected with Votteler’s highly scratch-resistant open grain/matt varnish and can be supplied with EC-type examination – Module B and Quality Assurance System – Module D Certificate. They are non-combustible, made to withstand heavy use and they are also custom-made: The client can choose from a wide range of real wood veneers.

For the first time, decorative surfaces for walls and ceilings can be designed with uniform real wood veneers. The open grain surface also has better noise reduction properties compared to the hard surface of high-pressure laminates. With LIMARTEC© Wood Veneer Systems, living spaces on water feel more natural, and therefore more luxurious and beautiful.

The LIMARTEC© Wood System is used to elevate the boutique feel of a luxury cruise ships and large yachts. The combination of fresh aesthetics and IMO certification opens doors for cruise interior designers. Real wood veneer appears warm; it feels more natural and has sound-absorbing properties due to the natural cell structure, which is preserved within wood veneer, as opposed to laminate.
