m2atelier have been shortlisted for the Interior Design Award (Over 40 Metres) in  The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023.

Luxury yacht builder, Conrad Shipyard, has recently completed a new superyacht project called Ace in collaboration with m2atelier, an architectural studio founded by Marco Bonelli and Marijana Radovic. The yacht’s design concept aims to challenge the traditional rigidity and codes of typical yachts by applying contemporary living concepts to the boat space.

The interior design, styling, and layout of the exterior areas were all meticulously crafted by m2atelier, who was commissioned by the owner. The design brief included an informal and fluid conception of the boat, which was achieved through the use of retractable sliding doors that provide a feeling of continuity.

One of the most notable design features is the suspended furnishings that create a “floating living” experience, resulting in a seamless transition of spaces that blend together. The use of light was also carefully considered to create depth, volume, and shape perception, with a gradual transition from a large amount of light on the deck to a gradually darkening interior area.

The yacht’s material selection was highly selective and reduced, featuring oak and teak wood, marble, grey leather, light-coloured fabrics, and dark metal. The richness of the interior design is not due to the opulent accumulation of different materials but rather the result of meticulous craftsmanship and treatment of the chosen materials.

The coordination and unification of interior and exterior spaces were achieved through a work of harmonization and detail, resulting in a clean and simple aesthetic that enhances both the outside environment and the space itself. To deepen the connection to the sea, m2atelier opened up many spaces to natural light, creating spaces with sinuous lines softened by side light and tailored details by narrowing and lining up the windows.

Ace is a testament to the skill and expertise of both Conrad Shipyard and m2atelier, who have successfully created a unique and contemporary yacht design that challenges traditional yacht conventions. The result is a yacht that offers an exceptional experience for its owner and guests, with a seamless transition of spaces, the use of light and carefully selected materials, and a deep connection to the surrounding environment.
