NAVIREX – Mario Grasso Design have been shortlisted for Concept Under 40 Metres Award in The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2022.

The idea of the Motor Yacht 101’ (30 Metres) Hybrid was conceived a few years ago from requests by Maurizio Fabiani, President of Fabiani Yacht Srl Shipyard.

The vessel can range 450 nautical miles at 20 knots with diesel engines and to sail at 7 knots for more than two/three sunny days with the power of the 200 square metres of retractable solar panels and two/three nights with the power of a battery pack of about 6 tons. The systems of the retractable solar panels and the aft sliding platform are patented by Maurizio Fabiani, of Fabiani Yachts.

The vessel is built in light alloy to ensure it can be recyclable and environmentally friendly and all drawings of the vessel are RINA Register approved. The naval architecture of the vessel was inspired by the best designs that Mario Grasso Design has previously created in his more than 30 years of experience. In the lower deck there are two crew cabins for four people, one tender garage, engine room divided by a corridor with two MAN 12 V 1900 hp each, two SIEMENS 150 kW electric engines and a large battery pack, two/four guest cabins and the VIP cabin.

The Motor Yacht 101′ Hybrid was created with accessibility in mind and is designed to allow those who use wheelchairs to access the yacht. Therefore, an aft platform was designed to be able to raise from 1 metre from underwater up to the flying bridge. Moreover, a corridor in the lower deck from aft to the fore master cabin, the main salon with a large door aft and another one fore and a large wheelhouse allow an easy path for the wheelchair. With no corridor there is the possibility to have a VIP cabin aft at full beam, two lateral guest cabins and another VIP cabin at bow.

Mario Grasso Design believes that the design of this kind of yacht integrates into the wider environment thanks to the waterlines of the hull which optimises performance without waste of fuel, resulting in the possibility to sail for days using the solar panels and batteries at no cost.
