Karageorgiou Interiors have been shortlisted for the Interior Design Award Over 40 Metres Award in  The International Yacht & Aviation Awards 2023.

Karageorgiou Interiors, in collaboration with H2 Yacht Design, has recently completed a stunning interior design project for M/Y Omnia, a classic steel-hulled explorer yacht built in 1974 by Amels for the Dutch Navy. The owner’s aspiration for the vessel was to create a timeless classic interior that would blend traditional and modern elements seamlessly.

The brief given to Karageorgiou Interiors was to preserve the yacht’s heritage while infusing it with a fresh, sophisticated ambiance. The design needed to reflect the yacht’s marine surroundings and maintain its explorer heritage while offering a comfortable and inviting environment. The project team achieved this vision by carefully balancing classic elegance with contemporary flair, using high-quality materials, bespoke features, and artisan craftsmanship.

The design works exceptionally well due to several key factors, including the harmonious blend of form and function, the effective use of space, the incorporation of luxurious yet practical materials, and a keen understanding of the yacht’s environment. The intelligent use of space maximizes the available area while maintaining a sense of spaciousness and flow throughout the yacht. Clever spatial planning and furniture arrangements promote social interaction among guests.

High-quality, durable materials were selected to withstand the demands of the marine environment while providing a sophisticated and elegant aesthetic. The use of textures, stripes, and colors further enhances the sense of opulence while remaining timeless and stylish.

The interior design project features bespoke cabinetry, millwork, and soft furnishings, designed to fit seamlessly into the yacht’s architecture. A highlight of the design is the use of luxurious fabrics such as velvet, silk, and cashmere, which add warmth and comfort to the interior spaces. The lighting design is also a significant feature of the project, with a focus on creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere in the evening while highlighting the yacht’s architectural details during the day.

The completed design is a true testament to Karageorgiou Interiors’ ability to create bespoke, luxurious, and timeless interiors for discerning clients. The M/Y Omnia’s interior is a comfortable and inviting space, where guests can relax and enjoy the luxury of life at sea, while effortlessly reflecting the yacht’s explorer heritage.
